IN 1964, HONDA LAUNCHED ITS FIRST OUTBOARD ENGINE, THE GB30, POWERED BY A 4-STROKE ENGINE. STARTING WITH THE T-TYPE ENGINE LAUNCHED IN 1954. THE MARKET SHARE OF 4-STROKE OUTBOARDS, WAS LESS THAN 1% WHEN HONDA FIRST ENTERED THE MARKET, NOW IT IS 98%. HONDA LAID THE FOUNDATION FOR THE SHIFT TO 4-STROKE OUTBOARDS AND HAS LED THE WAY IN IMPROVING THE MARINEENVIRONMENT.
Honda Outboard Serial Number Location
All model names start with "BF" but these two letters do not appear on the engine cover sticker.
The frame serial number is found on or near the stern bracket, stamped into a metal plate. The number uses the form "BXXX-XXXXXXX" and may also be referred to as the product identification number or Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
