FIND THE CORRECT PROPELLER FOR YOUR ENGINE:

1.
NEED TO KNOW THE MAKE, MODEL, YEAR, AND HORSEPOWER OF YOUR ENGINE.

2. DETERMINE YOUR ENGINE MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDED WOT (WIDE OPEN THROTTLE) RPM RANGE FROM YOUR OWNER'S MANUAL OR MANUFACTURERS WEBSITE.

3. RUN YOUR BOAT WITH YOUR TYPICAL LOAD AT WOT AND TRIM THE ENGINE FOR TOP SPEED AND RECORD TOP RPM'S. THEN GO OPPOSITE DIRECT TO COMPENSATE FOR CURRENTS AND WIND AND RECORD THE TOP RPM'S. THE AVERAGE OF THESE 2 NUMBERS IS YOUR WOT RPM'S.

4. THE BEST OVERALL PERFORMANCE IS WHEN THE WOT RPM'S ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RECOMMENDED RANGE FOR OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE AND FUEL ECONOMY.

5. AN OVER PROPPED ENGINE LUGS AT WOT & WILL NOT REACH THE RECOMMENDED RPMS, HAVE POOR HOLE SHOT & SLUGGISH ACCELERATION WHICH CAN DAMAGE THE ENGINE.

6. AN UNDER PROPPED ENGINE WILL OVER REV & EXCEED THE MAXIMUM RPM'S WHICH CAN DAMAGE THE ENGINE.

7. IF YOUR CURRENT PROP DOESN'T PERFORM IN THE RECOMMENDED RPM RANGE, TRY A DIFFERENT PITCH.
A. EACH 1" OF INCREASED PITCH WILL REDUCE WOT RPM'S BY 150-200 RPM'S ON AVERAGE.

B. REDUCING THE PITCH INCREASES THE WOT RPM'S BY 150-200 RPM'S FOR EACH INCH OF PITCH ON AVERAGE.

8. PROPS ARE MARKED WITH BOTH A DIAMETER & PITCH (14X19 MEANS 14" IN DIAMETER & 19" PITCH).

9. THE PITCH NEEDS TO BE CORRECT. THE DIAMETER IS NORMALLY PREDETERMINED BY THE PROP DESIGN & APPLICATION.
